People Don’t Know What They Want and Can’t Handle What They Get
Hey, it’s ZMM, back with another Zelegy ramble. Ever notice how people are a mess when it comes to wanting stuff? We’re out here chasing dreams, but half the time we don’t even know what we’re after. And when we finally get it? We don’t know what to do with it. It’s like we’re all playing a game with no rulebook, and honestly, it’s a little hilarious. Let’s unpack this whole “finding purpose” mess.
Chasing Shadows We Can’t Name
We’re all guilty of it. You say you want a big house, a fancy job, or some perfect relationship straight out of a movie. But do you really? I’ve seen friends grind for years to land their dream gig, only to realize they hate it. Or they chase love, find it, then freak out because it’s not what they pictured. We’re terrible at knowing what we want because we’re too busy wanting what we think we should want.Society doesn’t help. Scroll through your phone, and it’s all “buy this, be that, live here.” Everyone’s telling you what’s supposed to make you happy, but nobody’s asking what actually does. So we end up running after shadows, thinking they’ll fill the gap. Spoiler: they don’t.
What Happens When You Get It?
Here’s the kicker. Let’s say you get the thing. The job, the partner, the shiny new life. Now what? Most of us freeze. I knew a guy who saved up forever to travel the world. He finally did it, then spent the whole trip stressed about where to go next. He got his dream and had no clue how to live it.It’s not just big stuff. Ever buy something you swore you needed, like a new gadget, then let it sit in a drawer? We’re great at the chase, terrible at the follow-through. We don’t know what to do with what we want because we never stop to ask why we wanted it in the first place. It’s like we’re all kids who begged for a puppy but forgot we’d have to walk it.
Why Are We Like This?
I think it’s because we’re scared to sit still. If we stop chasing, we have to face the big questions. What do I actually care about? What’s my purpose? That’s heavy stuff, and most of us would rather keep running than deal with it. Plus, we’re wired for more. Got a good thing? Cool, what’s next? We’re never satisfied, even when we get what we thought we wanted.
So What Now?
I don’t have all the answers. Zelegy’s not about pretending I do. But maybe the trick is to slow down. Stop chasing what you’re supposed to want and figure out what lights you up, even if it’s small. And when you get it? Take a second to enjoy it before you start looking for the next thing. Life’s messy, and that’s okay. We’re all figuring it out as we go.Got thoughts on this whole life confusion thing? Drop them below. I’m curious.

Was just thinking about this very thing and I come across this post. Humans are very good at wanting things without the wisdom to know if we can handle it.
